U.S. Supreme Court has officially struck down the tariffs that were imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). In short, the Court ruled these tariffs were not legally allowed, which means many companies may now be eligible to recover the extra duties they paid.
However, it’s important to understand, refunds will not happen automatically. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has confirmed it stopped collecting IEEPA tariffs, but it has not yet issued instructions on how companies could claim refunds.
Until CBP publishes those instructions, using the wrong process—even with good intentions—could delay your refund or make you ineligible for one.
