Hurricane Beryl impacted the Winward islands in Eastern Caribbean sea on 01 July as a CAT-4 Hurricane. Widespread damage reported across St Vincent & Grenadines islands as well as Grenada and Barbados. Extensive shelter & wash needs are foreseen for Cariacou Island, Petit Martinique & Union Island in particular. The storm is expected to impact Jamaica 03/07/24.  CDEMA Regional Response Mechanism will likely govern regional and international assistance requirements, neighbour CARICOM nations already assisting.

Grenada Report

Our agent partner still reports internet issues post storm. GND/TGPY Airport re-opened on 02 July 1000am with flights from USA landing in the afternoon. Airport is international and usually served with mix of narrow body and wide body aircraft intra-Caribbean and from the USA. Weekly main deck cargo flight with widebody 767F/757F serves GND usually, and cargo capacity exists on pax flights to the island. Cargo weight and piece size limitations (<80kgs) for narrowbody services. The Port of St George is run by Grenada Ports Authority – impact on port operations TBC. Intra-island services exist. Customs – TBC

St Vincent Island Report

Our agent partner still reports being without electricity and internet supplies. SVD/TVSA Airport is said to be partially opened for relief flights only, no commercial flights landed on 02 July and all commercial flights for 03 July show cancelled. Planned reopening 03 Jul (Source OPS Group). The airport is usually served by international wide-body and narrow-body flights intra-Caribbean and from the USA. A weekly cargo flight with widebody 767F/757F serves SVG usually, and cargo capacity exists on pax flights to the island. Cargo weight and piece size limitations (<80kgs) apply for narrowbody ops. The main commercial port is at Kingstown St Vincent and has a container terminal – impact on port operations TBC. Customs-TBC.

Grenadines Islands Report

There are only airports ON 4 of the islands and the airports are generally short and not able to receive aircrafts of size. The longest runway is at Canouan which is 1791m only. Port facilities TBC incl damage information.

Bequia (BQU/TVSB) @1100m long. Daylight hours only. Island suffered significant damage, no info on airport yet. Shows closed until 05Jul at least (Source OPS GROUP).

Union Island (UNI/TVSM) @ 752m long. Daylight hours only. Shows as closed and major damage reported on island (90% damage report). Airport terminal lost roof in storm. (Source OPS GROUP).

Mustique (MQS/TVSM) @ 992m long. Daylight hours only. Shows as closed and significant damage reported on island. Closed until Weds 1600z at earliest. (Source OPS GROUP).

Canouan Island (CIW/TVSC) @ 1791m long. Daylight hours only. Shows as closed until at least 05 July and significant damage reported on island (Source OPS GROUP)
