Our Canadian offices worked with an NGO Partner in Quebec City to organize the ocean freight transport of donated medical items and hospital furniture to an orphanage project near Lillongwe, Malawi.
Shipping donated Hospital Equipment from Canada to an orphanage in Malawi
Back to all alertsOur team in Canada worked closely with our Global Humanitarian practice lead ead and our Tanzanian office to arrange the move of 1 x 40ft shippers own container on a door-to-door basis. The shipment was routed out of Montreal Port to Dar Es Salaam Port in Tanzania. From there onwards, our Tanzanian office coordinated the delivery of the container via Tanzania and then into Malawi to the final site. Our team had to content with strikes and unrest caused by election results in Tanzania but were able to see out the delivery to the final site. The PWS Tanzania office were also able to organize the crane required to offload the container to the final site and the manpower to unload the container.
Memory Mavunda, Country Manager Tanzania commented: “We were delighted to assist our Canadian office in this delivery and be involved in such an impactful delivery. We had to contend with some unforeseen circumstances but got the job done ! The Dar Es Salaam office is very strategic for our group since we can handle container & road freight delivery into many landlocked parts of Africa from here”
